Automate the manual ServiceNow data classification process with BigID’s auto-discovery and advanced classification capabilities. ServiceNow data classification is a standalone process in which you manually apply data classifications to existing dictionary entries in any table.
By automating classification with the BigID ServiceNow Data Classification App, enterprises accelerate time-to-value from ServiceNow’s native data classification plugin and can leverage ServiceNow's Vault offering introduced in Tokyo to facilitate privacy and compliance capabilities, such as data anonymization, that are offered natively in the platform.
The BigID ServiceNow Data Classification App does this by syncing and mapping the ServiceNow classification fields with BigID’s discovery and classification capabilities in the following manner:
- Configure the ServiceNow classification plugin and define classification fields (classes/subclasses), which are then mapped to classification field names with standard or customer-defined classification values.
- Configure BigID to discover these ServiceNow classification fields followed by on-demand and/or scheduled BigID scans of the data residing in defined ServiceNow tables, automatically classifying the data using the configured classifiers defined in BigID.
- Push the resulting classification of the scanned tables back into ServiceNow’s Classification Plugin, aligning and identifying the data classification fields originally defined within ServiceNow.
Once configured, all operations can be performed using the native integration within the ServiceNow console.
The BigID Classification for ServiceNow App enables enterprises to drive more value and automation from ServiceNow’s native data classification plugin by syncing and mapping the ServiceNow classification fields with BigID’s discovery and classification capabilities. The application does so by:
- Providing native integration to enable BigID/ServiceNow synchronization of classification fields via configuration directly in the BigID Classification for ServiceNow app. Customers can configure the ServiceNow classification plugin and define classification fields (classes/subclasses), which are then mapped with classification field names with customer-defined classification values.
- Configuring BigID to discover these ServiceNow classification fields followed by an on-demand and scheduled BigID scan of the data residing in defined ServiceNow tables, automatically classifying the data using the configured classifiers defined in BigID.
- Pushing the resulting classification of the scanned tables back into ServiceNow’s Classification Plugin, aligning and identifying the data classification fields originally defined within ServiceNow.
The resulting synchronization drives automation and reduces the need for customers to manually define classification when deploying the ServiceNow Classification plugin while aligning the classification policies with consistent classifiers defined in BigID. By enabling this automated classification, customers can leverage ServiceNow's Vault offering introduced in Tokyo to facilitate privacy and compliance capabilities offered natively in the platform, such as data anonymization.
